With its unspoiled natural wonders, pristine white sand beaches, Robinson Crusoe-island adventures, and boasting one of the newest natural wonders of the world, it is no wonder Conde Nast Traveller, the world’s leading luxury travel magazine, named it “the best island destination in the world”.
The Elysian island of Palawan claimed the top spot based on over 76,000 votes in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2014. And rightfully so, as Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1999, has been named one of the world’s best natural wonders.
Palawan Island, also known as the “last frontier” edged some of the most popular destinations in the world for top spot on the list of the world’s 30 best islands.
Another popular destination among local and international tourist, Boracay Island, claimed the 12th spot, ahead of favorites Bali, Bora-Bora, and the Maldives.
Meanwhile, the 30-acre Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa, took the 11th spot among the “Top 20 Resorts in Asia”.
