John Galliano is back! After 3 years of disappearing from the confines of fashion weeks (thanks to his anti-semitic outbursts that got him fired from DIOR in 2011) the flamboyant designer has finally landed a job. He just recently named as the new creative director of Maison Martin Margiela, a Paris-based fashion house.
“John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time — a unique, exceptional couturier for a maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion,” Renzo Rosso, president of OTB (Only The Brave), which controls Margiela, told Womens Wear Daily. “I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to find his new home here.”
Martin Margiela, founder of the brand, left the fashion house in 2009 and kept a very low profile, rarely giving interviews. He preferred to do so in writing, and he would generally sign Maison Martin Margiela as opposed to his own name.
Galliano is expected to show his first collection for the brand in January for Haute Couture week in Paris.
